The Consumer Continuing Education Network
Listening and Learning from the Voices of Mental Illness
The Cole Center invites you to participate in a variety of programs consisting of consumer lecturers sharing their life experiences with mental illness and their journey back to life.
The Consumer Continuing Education Network is a service offered by consumer lecturers who have experienced some form of mental illness and have successfully recaptured their lives. Consumers will present a personal journey through stigma and recovery. They will share their experiences about family, work, and illness as well as outline available resources for individuals suffering from mental illness. These lectures are offered to businesses, high schools, hospitals, and medical schools as well as colleges, universities, community groups or anyone needing to know about mental health.
A speaker from the Consumer Continuing Education Network will arrive at your location with materials tailored to meet the mental health needs of your group. Hand-out materials will be provided for each participant along with a list of available resources. A one hour lecture and interactive question and answer period will be designed for your specific audience. The speakers will be available for private, confidential consultation at the end of each program. Lecturers are also available for television, radio, and internet programs.

"Only by eliminating the stigma of mental illness will we end the hopelessness it creates and barriers it builds to services and treatment. Silence is the partner of stigma, which makes the work of consumer lectures from the Consumer Continuing Education Network so vital to the cause. When consumers share their poignant, personal journeys through stigma and recovery, it is a powerful message for any audience."
