Employment Assistance
The Cole Resource Center has an Employment Specialist who works with individuals with all types of psychiatric disabilities. These services are confidential and free to persons seeking paid or volunteer work.
The Employment Specialist assists clients in conducting a job search, advancing in employment, and preparing for successful employment. The Cole Center offers assessment of current skills, resume and reference development, interview preparation, job-seeking skills training, arrangement for informational interviews, and employment counseling. In addition, the Employment Specialist provides job leads to clients.
The Cole Center offers assistance to clients seeking volunteer positions outside of McLean Hospital. Volunteering is often a great strategy to re-enter the job market. It enables clients to build on current experience, expand professional networks, lessen gaps in employment history, update references, and learn new skills.
Job Search Support Group
The Cole Center offers a free Job Search Support Group for jobseekers with psychiatric and/or physical disabilities. The group will help you set goals, stay motivated, practice networking and interview skills, and provide each other with support. The group also features topic discussions on issues such as "disclosure of a disability" and "reasonable accommodations."
The Cole Center Job Search Support Group meets the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of each month from 1 PM until 2 PM room 117 of the deMarneffe (cafeteria) Building. For further information, please email Kevin Burke or call him at (617) 855-2791.
